Social & Image — What Is Polymarket? And What's a "Builder Fee"?¶
X (Twitter)¶
Prediction markets turn opinions into tradable forecasts — a "70¢ yes" means the crowd sees ~70% odds. Apps that route your trade can earn a "builder fee." The honest rule: it's a real added cost, so it should be shown before you trade, never hidden. 🔗 #Polymarket #crypto #prediction

A "70% yes" share on a prediction market is really the crowd betting real money on a forecast — which is why these markets are often surprisingly accurate. But if an app earns a fee for routing your trade, how should it tell you?
This beginner primer explains:
- What a prediction market is, and why prices act like crowd-sourced probabilities
- What Polymarket is — a large, non-custodial prediction platform on the Polygon network
- What a "builder fee" (referral code) is, using a familiar travel-booking analogy
- The honest part: unlike a cost-free referral, a builder fee is additive — a real cost to you — so it must be shown plainly before you trade, never folded into a total or called "free"
The line between a trustworthy app and an untrustworthy one isn't whether there's a fee. It's whether you see it clearly before you approve. (And yes — prediction markets carry real risk; only take part where it's legal for you.)

A clean modern editorial illustration: a friendly marketplace scene rendered in soft geometric shapes, where two balanced scales tip between a glowing "yes" orb and a "no" orb, representing a prediction market. To one side, a small transparent receipt-like panel floats, showing a clearly itemized fee line highlighted in warm accent — conveying honest, up-front disclosure without any readable words. Abstract wallet-token shapes flow directly from a person's hand to the market, bypassing any middleman. Deep navy and teal base palette with a single warm amber accent on the highlighted fee line and the "yes" orb, soft diffuse lighting, subtle depth, generous negative space, approachable and trustworthy rather than corporate. No text, no logos, no watermarks. Aspect ratio 16:9.
