Social & Image — Predict: Earning From Prediction-Market Trades Without Ever Touching One¶

One error message redesigned our whole feature: Polymarket ties every order to the wallet that signed it, so a shared server can't trade for you. FairWins earns by crediting trades — a small referral tag on each order — and shows the builder fee as its own line, never "free." 🔗

The first design for Predict — FairWins' prediction-market trading feature, built on publicly available information and skill-based forecasting — looked like every server pattern we had: one shared credential submits orders for the member. It failed against the live system with an "invalid API key" error.
Polymarket ties every order to the wallet that signed it, by design. That killed the middleman approach and forced a better one. The post covers:
- Direct trading: the member's own wallet is the only thing that signs an order; credentials never touch a FairWins server.
- Crediting over intermediation: a small referral tag rides alongside each order, not inside it — FairWins earns on volume without holding orders, credentials, or funds.
- Honest fees: unlike a marketplace referral that costs the user nothing, Polymarket's builder fee is additive — a real trading cost — so it gets its own labeled line, never blended into a total.
- A hard cap at startup: the rate is a setting (default 0.5% for takers, 0 for makers), capped at the program limits; misconfigure it and the server refuses to start.
Everyone who participates remains subject to applicable law and Polymarket's own regional restrictions, which the app surfaces and never bypasses. 🔗
How do you decide which fees to itemize versus blend?

A clean abstract-geometric editorial illustration of a signed order traveling directly from a stylized browser window to a distant exchange node along a single unbroken luminous line, while a small parallel tag — representing an attribution header — branches off to a side beacon without interrupting the main path. Convey non-custodial directness: no intermediary hub sits on the primary line. Deep navy and teal base with a single warm coral accent marking the attribution tag and beacon. Crisp vector-like forms, soft glow, subtle grid texture in the background, precise and trustworthy fintech-engineering mood, generous negative space. No text, no logos, no watermarks. Aspect ratio 16:9.
